Revamp Your Shopfront

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is excited to launch the Growing Cassowary Coast- Shopfront Improvement Program!

Designed to create Attractive Places to Do Business by revamping commercial facades and beautifying our vibrant communities in Innisfail, Tully, Mission Beach, and Cardwell.

This initiative enhances our streetscapes and stimulates local economic growth, benefiting both new and established businesses.

The Shopfront Improvement Program offers dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $5,000 for eligible projects. The program provides support to shop owners through resources such as business checklists, supplier and business FAQ's and one on one appointments making it easier than ever to improve your shopfront.

Eligible improvements include external repainting, signage upgrades, greening your shopfront, lighting, security, and accessibility enhancements.

Program Objectives

  • Improve streetscape aesthetics by enhancing shopfronts and building facades.
  • Encourage economic growth by making town centers more inviting.
  • Stimulate local business activity through shopfront improvements.
  • Support local tradespeople by ensuring improvements are executed by local contractors.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for funding, applicants must:

  • Be owners or tenants (who have owners approval)of commercial buildings in eligible areas.
  • Propose visible improvements enhancing the building’s façade and creating attractive shopfronts
  • Obtain necessary permits and comply with regulations.
  • Use licensed local contractors.
  • Complete improvements within six months of the funding agreement.

Funding can be used for:

  • External repainting and signage improvements.
  • Awnings, window treatments, and lighting installations.
  • Adding greenery, accessibility improvements, and more.
  • Window treatments and external lighting installations.
  • Industrial cleaning of shopfronts and facades.
  • Accessibility improvements (e.g., ramps).
