BIN OPTIMISATION PROGRAM

Cassowary Coast Regional Council has undertaken a a bin optimisation across our region. This program included removing the existing 55-litre bins and installing 240-litre wheelie bins at strategic locations. The new 240-litre bins have been installed in strategic locations across the region at strategic locations.

The new 240-litre bins increase the capacity of waste which can be collected and enables Council to more efficiently streamline waste collection and improve on our current processes. As a part of Council’s bin optimisation program, Council do not provide public bins for any business or household waste, on land not managed by Council or on residential streets.

The collection service of these bins is now undertaken by a specialist contract who requires that the bins at these locations be placed generally kerbside.

VOTE ON ARTWORK FOR NEW BINS

As part of the Bin Optimisation Program, Council wants the community to choose two creative new designs to represent our region’s beauty on newly installed street bins. The community is asked to vote on their preferred artwork for each location. The top two designs for each location will then be chosen. The artwork considers our unique and iconic environment, with bins to be placed at the following locations:

  • Cardwell
  • South Mission Beach
  • Wongaling Beach
  • North Mission Beach
  • Etty Bay

The community can vote on the following designs for each locations:

  • Green Sea Turtle
  • Cassowary
  • Mahogany Glider
  • Licuala Palm
  • Barramundi
  • Ulysses

To spruce the bins panels up to suit these coastal locations, we are also asking the community to provide a preferred colour for an alternate paneling from either sand, light green, or light blue.
