Program Overview

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council will invest $1,421,000 to replace ten aged culvert cross-overs throughout the region through the Culvert Replacement Program.

A tender for the Culvert Replacement works has been divided into a Northern and Southern Package for works to be efficiently undertaken across the region. The Northern Package has been awarded to MJC Civil, and the Southern Package has been awarded to Terranovus Civil.

The 2023-2024 Program, which is fully funded by Council, aims to renew aged culvert infrastructure at the identified locations across the region that were reported as reaching end of life during a recent asset inspection. As part of this project, any additional upgrades to infrastructure sizing required to improve drainage will be included during construction.

The culverts which will be replaced have been listed below:

Northern Package:

  • Warrubullen Road, Cowley Beach Culvert 36
  • Walter Lever Estate Road, Japoonvale Culvert 1, Culvert 3, Culvert 5, Culvert 8, Culvert 9, Culvert 1

Southern Package:

  • Gravel Pit Road, Ellerbeck Culvert 2
  • North Davidson Road, Cardstone Culvert 23
  • O’Hanlon Road, Feluga Culvert 2

Council will now work with both contractors to finalise the works program which will advise the timeline of each culvert replacement.
