In 2022, Council adopted a new suite of local laws. Since then, we’ve identified areas where improvements are needed—some minor, such as updating terminology, and others more significant, such as changes to animal management and environmental protections.
To make sure our laws remain practical, effective, and reflect the needs of the Cassowary Coast community, Council is proposing amendments across three existing local laws and two subordinate local laws.
This consultation is your opportunity to:
- Review the proposed amendments and explanatory notes in plain English
- Understand why changes have been suggested
- Provide feedback by making a submission
Community consultation is open for a minimum of 21 days, with submissions closing on Friday, 24 October 2025.
