Doing Business on the Cassowary Coast

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is committed to the growth of existing and development of new small businesses across the region. Small businesses are the heart of our small towns, helping to shape our community and drive our economy.

Small Business Friendly Initiative

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is a Small Business Friendly Council. In April 2022, Council officially signed the Small Business Friendly Charter, a significant step towards supporting small businesses. This charter is designed to make your business operations smoother by facilitating better communication, engagement, and explanation of complex documentation. With over 3,000 small businesses across the region, this charter commitment means support, resources, and additional tools to help your business thrive.

Queensland Small Business Commissioner

The Queensland Small Business Commissioner (QSBC), including the Small Business Commissioner and supporting office, is a passionate supporter of Queensland small and family businesses. A small and family business is a business employing less than 20 full-time employees (or equivalent) regardless of structure or turnover.

The QSBC provides a range of services for small and family businesses under the Small Business Commissioner Act 2022 focussed on enhancing the operating environment for small and family businesses in Queensland and reducing the time and costs associated with resolving disputes involving small businesses.
