Stormwater Notification Porter Promenade - Western side

WORKS LOCATION: Porter Promenade - Western side

Cassowary Coast Regional Council and RMS wish to inform residents and business owners about the commencement of stormwater works along the western side of Porter Promenade in April 2025. We would like to make businesses aware that as new work areas are created and throughout the duration of the project, RMS will maintain pedestrian access to all businesses.

Dates:14 April 2025 to 10 August 2025, weather and resources pending

Work times:6am to 6pm Mon – Fri [Saturday work 6am to 6pm, as required]

Works Breakdown:

Stormwater works are due to commence on the Western side of Porter Promenade. This will involve installing site fencing along Porter Promenade to enclose the new work areas.

Monday 14 April 2025 to 10 June 2025 - Stormwater Works Infront of The Hub Complex

Stormwater works will begin on Monday, April 14, 2025, with fencing installed in front of "The Hub" (46 Porter Promenade) on the northern side of Campbell Street. Construction affecting the complex will take place within the green work zone and is expected to be completed by Tuesday, June 10, 2025. After that, water main reticulation works will commence, starting from the intersection and extending towards the Mission Beach Tavern.

Monday 2 June 2025: Dewatering Works

RMS will conduct dewatering work between 46 and 54 Porter Promenade, along with preparatory work for the main stormwater project, starting from Wednesday 11 June, 2025. Driveway and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works.

Thursday 12th June 2025: Driveway Closure of 50 Porter Promenade

Following the completion of works in front “The Hub” complex, construction will commence with fencing installed in front of the of 50 Porter Promenade. The driveway for this property will be closed for approximately 10 days and will be reopened as soon as backfill operations are completed and it is safe for light vehicle access.

Monday 23 June 2025: Full Closure of 52 Porter Promenade – Mission Beach Tavern

Stormwater works will commence on Monday, 23 June 2025, requiring the closure of the Mission Beach Tavern driveway for approximately 7 days. The driveway will reopen as soon as works are completed and deemed safe for light vehicle access.

To ensure continued operations, the contractor will manage deliveries via a temporary delivery bay on the northern side of the Tavern. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works.

Once stormwater works in front of the Mission Beach Tavern are complete, the area will be backfilled, with full completion expected by Tuesday, 15 July 2025

Temporary Impacts as a result of these works include:

  • RMS will ensure that pedestrian access for businesses is maintained
  • Access to The Mission Beach Tavern driveway for deliveries will be managed directly with the property owner.
  • There are no planned disruptions to services whilst these works are undertaken
  • Please be aware of heavy machinery and noise impacts during these construction works.
  • Site fencing and shrouding will be in place for safety reasons during the construction works.
  • 50 Porter Promenade driveway will be closed for approximately 10 days
  • 52 Porter Promenade driveway will be closed for approximately 7 days
