Dear Business Community,

Cassowary Coast Regional Council would like to update you on the mesh fencing at the Mission Beach construction site. After further discussions with the contractors, RMS have made the decision that the mesh fencing MUST remain in place for safety reasons. These include:

• High-impact work areas with large excavation
• Visual distractions
• Debris and fly rock leaving the site with loading and unloading
• Noise and dust suppression

While we understand the concerns regarding visibility, we are working with RMS to ensure the project keeps progressing, with work being carried out on weekends. In the next few weeks, the middle section of the fencing at the top of the Village Green will be opened to improve pedestrian access.

In the meantime, businesses are encouraged to place their signage to improve visibility where they see appropriate. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time, but it is important for both Council and RMS to prioritise the safety of the community.
