Works location/s: Campbell Street Road Closure and Stormwater Works

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation:

Works: Campbell Street Road Closure and Stormwater Works

Dates: 9 July 2025 – (estimated 2 months)

Work times:6am to 6pm Monday – Friday [Saturday work as required required]

Description: As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, both stormwater, watermain and pavements will be constructed up Campbell Street (the post office detour will be accelerating the works). This work involves deep excavation and the use of large earthmoving equipment.

To safely complete these works, Campbell Street will be closed to all traffic between Porter Promenade and Endeavour Avenue for approximately two months.

Traffic and Access Information:

  • A temporary detour will be in place via the Post Office Complex, allowing two-way traffic under the management of on-site contractors.
  • A reduced speed limit of 10km/h will apply in the detour area. Please drive with care and follow all signage and directions.
  • Access to Endeavour Avenue, Coonanglebah Close, Nautilus Street, Island Close, Purtaboi Close, and Seagull Close will be maintained via the detour through the Post Office Complex.
  • Some car parking will remain available within the Post Office Complex.
  • The public car park along Campbell Street and the private car park behind the Hub Complex will remain open throughout the works.

Once works are completed, normal access along Campbell Street will resume and all temporary traffic changes will be lifted.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these important upgrades are carried out.

Please refer to the following map to see the work area and contingency plans:

Temporary impacts as a result of these works

  • Alternate traffic, parking and pedestrian movement will be in place
  • Traffic lights will be implemented
  • Heavy Rigids, Cars & Caravans will all be able to travel through the detour
  • The Contractor will ensure that access for businesses is maintained
  • Fencing will be installed around any open excavations, and pedestrian areas will be restored wherever required
  • There are no planned disruptions to services
  • All residents and businesses affected by planned interruptions will be notified 2 weeks in advance
  • Potential noise pollution due to machinery

Every effort will be made to reduce disruptions during this time, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation.
