Works Notice #11 - January 2025

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation. These construction works notifications are distributed regularly to keep you informed of upcoming construction activities throughout each month.

Construction sites will shut down from Friday, 20 December 2024 to Sunday, 5 January 2025 inclusive.

Overall Works: Re-establishment of construction areas and traffic management throughout David Street, Village Green and Porter Promenade

Work times:6am to 6pm Monday – Friday [Saturday work as required required]

Works in January will include:

Traffic & Site Changes

  • Traffic lights to be re-installed along Porter Promenade, traffic will be reduced to one lane
  • David Street Road Closure (only open to local traffic) with diversion lane
  • Re-establish site fencing at the corner of David Street, Village Green & Porter Promenade

Stormwater:

  • Remove temporary cover on Pit A8 outside the Gifts for Every Occasion and installation of the new pit lid
  • Replacement of stormwater drainage outside of Joey’s Café
  • Continued stormwater drainage works branching out along Porter Promenade moving north and south.

Watermain Works:

  • Installation of new watermain from properties on the southern side of the Village Green from Blues Bar through to Plenty Restaurant.

Awning:

  • Awning structure in-ground footings will commence along the northern side starting outside of Pirates Den to Mission Hub and be ongoing in the Village Green

Temporary Impacts will include:

  • Delivery vehicle bay will remain at new location Porter Promenade
  • Alternate routes for traffic, parking, and pedestrian movement will be implemented
  • Traffic lights will be implemented along Porter Promenade
  • Some parking spaces may be affected during construction access
  • The Contractor will ensure that access for businesses is maintained
  • There are no planned disruptions to services due to these works
  • Please be aware of potential noise from machinery during construction
  • Fencing will be installed around any open excavations, and pedestrian areas will be restored wherever required
