Works Notice #14 – April 2025

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation. These construction works notifications are distributed regularly to keep you informed of upcoming construction activities throughout each month.

Overall Works: Continuation of stormwater infrastructure installation on Porter Promenade and construction of the awning footings commencing.

Work times:6am to 6pm Monday – Friday [Saturday work as required required]

Works in April will include:

Traffic & Site Changes:

  • Traffic realignment along Porter Promenade to accommodate stormwater works to commence on the western side of Porter Promenade. One way traffic will remain in place.
  • David Street diversion lane through to Marine Parade (open to local traffic only) will shift to the opposite side once works outside Joey's Cafe is completed.

Stormwater:

  • Stormwater works to continue along the Eastern side of Porter Promenade (Between Café Johalia and south of RMS site office compound) backfilling as works are completed.
  • Dewatering works will progress on Porter Promenade.
  • Installation of box culverts will be completed on Southern side of David Street (next to Joey’s). Following this, the David Street stormwater works were completed outside Charlie's, where the Ergon conflict occurred.

Watermain Works:

  • Connections to be completed on Eastern side of Porter Promenade, following storm water works
  • Installation of temporary watermain on Campbell Street to southern side of Post office complex. If there are any service interruptions, a notification will be issued to affected stakeholders.

Awning:

  • Awning works have been delayed and will be rescheduled once the Ergon line is relocated and stormwater works are resolved. Awning structure in-ground footings will commence on the northern side of the Village Green, starting with excavations outside of Pirates Den to Mission Hub.

Seawall Installation:

  • Potential commencement works for the installation of the seawall along the beachfront

Toilet Block:

  • Foundation works for the new toilet block will begin in the Village Green, with some changes to pedestrian access during construction.

Pavement:

  • Commencement of filling operations and pavement works on David Street.

Temporary Impacts will include:

  • Delivery vehicle bay will move to a new location in the Village Green for Porter Promenade Businesses
  • Alternate routes for traffic, parking, and pedestrian movement will be implemented
  • Traffic lights will be implemented
  • Some parking spaces continue to be affected during construction access
  • The Contractor will ensure that access for businesses is maintained
  • All service disruptions within RMS’ scope will provide notice to affected stakeholders
  • Please be aware of potential noise from machinery during construction
  • Fencing will be installed around any open excavations, and pedestrian areas will be restored wherever required
