Construction sites will be shut down on the following Public Holidays:

• Easter: Friday 18 April to Monday 21 April (inclusive)
• ANZAC Day: Friday 25 April
• May Day: Monday 5 May

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation:

Overall Works: Continuation of stormwater infrastructure installation on Porter Promenade, commencement of David Street pavement works, commencement of seawall structure works at beach front, and commencement of construction of the awning footings.

Work times: 6am to 6pm Monday – Friday [Saturday work as required required]

Works in May will include:

Traffic & Site Changes:

• Traffic switch on Porter Promenade for stormwater works to continue the western side of Porter Promenade
• Traffic switch Mission Beach Blue Bars & Café to Mission Beach Post Office commences in May
• David Street diversion lane (only open to local traffic) will be maintained by RMS with spotters and traffic control devices during pavement construction works (work area extent from Campbell Street intersection to Mission Beachfront) • Road closure of Campbell Street for commencement of stormwater works in this area
• Pedestrian access diversions around The Pirate Den Bar and Grill, Porter Promenade & Village Green, for footing construction works
• Pedestrian access diversions around Skydive Mission Beach for awning demolition works Stormwater:
• Stormwater works to progress on the western side of Porter Promenade
• Dewatering works will progress on Porter Promenade • Potential commencement of stormwater works on western side of Porter Promenade (in front of Mission Beach Post Office)
• Stormwater works commence on the southern side of Campbell Street

Watermain Works:

• Connections to be completed on the eastern side of Porter Promenade, following storm water works
• Installation of temporary watermain on Campbell Street to the southern side of the Mission Beach Post Office
• New main water installation works commence on the western side of Porter Promenade following the completion of stormwater works

Awning:

• Once the stormwater works are completed on the eastern side of Porter Promenade the demolition works can commence (booked for the 28th of April)
• Awning structure in-ground footings will commence along the northern side, starting with excavations extending outside of The Pirates Den Bar and Grill to the Mission Hub, and within Village Green

Seawall Installation (Late May – Early June):

• Excavation for seawall at Mission Beachfront to commence
• Setup of crane and installation of seawall structure Toilet Block:
• Commence construction of toilet block foundation works, Village Green, with some changes to pedestrian access

Pavement Works:

• Commencement of fill placement operations on David Street to construct the pavement
• Commencement of concrete pavement on David Street with associated changes to local traffic flow & pedestrian access during construction

Works Locations:

Please note that access and work areas may change regularly, and updates will be provided as required. Please refer to map to see the work area and contingency plans:4

Temporary impacts as a result of these works

• Campbell Street will be closed
• Delivery vehicle bay will move as required at new location Porter Promenade
• Alternate routes for traffic, parking, and pedestrian movement will be in place
• Traffic lights will be in place
• Some parking spaces will continue to be temporarily lost within the works location
• Business access will be maintained by the Contractor
• All residents and businesses affected by service disruptions will be notified two weeks in advance by the Contractor
• Potential noise pollution due to machinery • Fencing will be installed around any open excavations, and pedestrian areas will be restored wherever required
