Works Notice #20

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing/continuing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation:

Overall Works:

  • Continuation of stormwater infrastructure installation on Porter Promenade and Campbell Street
  • Continuation of David Street pavement works
  • Installation of seawall structure works at beach front
  • Continuation of construction of the awning footings in Village Green North side (Pirate Den Bar to Dive Shop)

Work times: 6am to 6pm Monday – Friday [Saturday work as required]

Works in June will include:

Traffic & Site Changes:

  • Traffic switch on Porter Promenade for stormwater works to continue along the western side of Porter Promenade, traffic will be reduced to one lane
  • David Street diversion lane (only open to local traffic) will be maintained by the Contractor, with spotters and traffic control devices, during pavement construction works (work area extent from Campbell Street intersection to Beachfront)
  • Campbell Street will be re-opened to one lane of traffic. Ongoing works on the southern side of Campbell Street include the closure of the shoulder, footpath and driveway access to the Post Office complex car park (work area extent from Porter Promenade to Post Office complex car park)
  • Pedestrian access diversions around The Pirate Den Bar and Grill, Porter Promenade & Village Green, for footing construction works

Stormwater:

  • Stormwater works will progress from Porter Promenade moving north and south along the western side of Porter Promenade
  • Dewatering works will progress on Porter Promenade
  • Potential commencement of stormwater works on western side of Porter Promenade (in front of Post Office complex)
  • Stormwater works continuation on the southern side of Campbell Street

Awning:

  • Awning footing works continuing along Porter Promenade and Village Green, from former Pirates Den to Mission Beach Adventures, including work setup, in-ground footings for awnings. Works will commence along the northern side of Village Green with excavations starting outside the former Pirates Den and extending within Village Green

Seawall Installation in early June:

  • Mission Beachfront works to commence including setup of crane and installation of seawall structure

Toilet Block:

  • Commence construction of toilet block foundation works, Village Green, with some changes to pedestrian access

Pavement Works:

  • Commencement of fill placement operations in Village Green to construct the pavement
  • Continuation of concrete pavement on David Street with associated changes to local traffic flow & pedestrian access during construction

Works Locations:

Please note that access and work areas may change regularly, and updates will be provided as required. Please refer to the following map to see the work area and contingency plans:

Temporary impacts because of these works:
  • Delivery vehicle bay will move as required at new location on Porter Promenade
  • Alternate routes for traffic, parking, and pedestrian movement will be in place
  • Traffic lights will be in place
  • Some parking spaces will continue to be temporarily lost within the works location
  • Business access will be maintained by the Contractor
  • All residents and businesses affected by service disruptions will be notified two weeks in advance by the Contractor • Potential noise pollution due to machinery
  • Fencing will be installed around any open excavations, and pedestrian areas will be restored wherever required Every effort will be made to reduce disruptions during this time, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation.
