Works Notice #6 – Wednesday 25 September 2024

Works location:

Porter Promenade – Clearing Works / Service Location / Watermain installation

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise that contractors RMS Engineering & Construction will be commencing the following works as part of the Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation:

Works: Clearing Works and Service Location

Dates: Monday 30th September to Friday 15th November [subject to delays]

Work times:6am to 6pm

Description:

Starting Monday 30th September, RMS will begin clearing works and service location along the eastern & western side of Porter Promenade. This will involve some minor demolition of paving, removal of garden beds, and clearing of vegetation to access the work areas. Additionally, vacuum excavation will be used to locate existing services. These measures are essential for the installation of new watermain infrastructure.

Starting Tuesday 8th October, RMS will start the installation of the watermain, which will involve trenching, excavation, and backfill operations. To facilitate this work, site fencing will be set up with the entire footpath may be utilised. As a result, pedestrian routes will be adjusted and may include temporary detours onto the road shoulder, which will be clearly marked.

Please refer to the following maps to see the work area and contingency plans.

Temporary Impacts as a result of these works include:

  • Alternate traffic, parking and pedestrian movement will be in place
  • Parking spaces may be affected during service location works for construction access
  • Business access will be facilitated by the contractor
  • There will be no planned disruptions to services as a result of these works
  • Potential noise pollution due to machinery
  • Fencing will be in place for any open excavations, otherwise pedestrian areas will be reinstated where reasonable

Every effort will be made to reduce disruptions during this time, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation.
